Frequently Asked Questions
Got a question? Get started below and feel free to get in touch.
Do I have to sign up for a full term/year?
No. You can have a one-off maths session if preferred, subject to availability. Some students choose to do fortnightly sessions rather than weekly sessions.
How long are the face-to-face maths sessions?
One-on-one sessions are typically 30 minutes, but some students choose to have 45 or 60 minute sessions. Our maths tuition is always flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the students.
What happens if I can’t make a session?
We need at least 24 hours’ notice and can reschedule within the same term. This is subject to availability.
What happens if I know at the start of the term there will be dates that I’m away, e.g. on holiday?
Those sessions won’t be booked in and will be available for other students to use.
Can you help if my child has learning difficulties?
Yes definitely, and we’re always happy to help. Please contact me to discuss your individual needs.
My child is so far behind. Are you able to help?
Yes. Gaps that have been made in a student’s maths knowledge can be easily caught up in a short period of time. Contact me to discuss your individual needs.
Can you help if my teen is doing well at maths but would like to go for excellence?
Yes. The maths tuition is individually tailored to meet the needs of the student.
Do you enable students to set goals?
Yes. Students are encouraged to be proactive and take ownership of their learning and identify what they need to work on.
Is there a reporting process to parents?
Not formally, however we are happy to take phone calls to discuss progress. We usually find the student’s confidence, happiness and results reflect the positive progress being made.
What age do you tutor?
Year 3 to Year 13 students and adults needing basic maths skills or sitting the NZDF Numerical Reasoning Test.
My teen has failed all their maths assessments and has another assessment next week. Can you help?
Yes. In fact this happens quite frequently. For example, a student came in for some extra maths tuition which resulted in attaining a merit grade in their next NCEA internal assessment and an excellence grade in their NCEA external exam.
Are you an authorised tuition provider if I qualify to apply for funding?
Yes. We have been approved by organisations authorising funding for students in the past. We’re happy to provide whatever information is required to help with any funding application.
